It has been said that before you
can love another, you must first learn to love yourself.
You cannot force anyone else to be happy; likewise,
nobody else can be responsible for your own happiness.
True happiness must come from within.
Happiness is not a destination. It is a journey.
Mindfulness-Based Family Therapy helps you to understand
and enjoy the journey.
Mindfulness-Based Family Therapy is based on the
philosophy that we all have our own Inner Healer; that
we already have within us the skills and talents to make
positive change in our lives. By using mindfulness to
reconnect with our own Inner Healer, we regain the
wisdom to restore meaning and purpose to our lives.
When we find our own inner happiness, we can then come
together with our partners and our loved ones to share
that happiness.
We will always have problems in our lives. Instead of
viewing therapy as problem-solving, I view the
therapeutic process as the opportunity to create a new
way of looking at problems so that they don't generate
so much stress and anxiety. To me, therapy is a paradigm
shift to a new reality and a new way of being in the
world.
"Mindfulness is the
energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the
continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of
daily life. To be mindful is to be truly alive and present with
those around you and with what you are doing. We bring our body
and mind into harmony while we wash the dishes, drive the car or
take our morning cup of tea." --Thich

Think
about the things that have caused you anxiety, stress or
depression in the past. Now ask yourself, "Was it the things
themselves that caused the anxiety, stress or depression, or was
it what I believed about those things?"
Can you think of anything that you've ever been worried about,
that wasn't a product of your thoughts and feelings? Could it be
true that the worries come from the thoughts and feelings
themselves, and not from the situations in which you find
yourself?
If it is true that anxiety and depression are rooted in our
thoughts, then we should be able to change our thoughts and
eliminate, or at least minimize, anxiety and depression.
Mindfulness is a way to change our thoughts. If you can change
your thoughts, you can change your world!
